Comparison of Flowing Water Culture, Aeroponic and Soil Media Methods in terms of Yield and Yield Elements in Potato Mini Tuber Production
Abstract
In potato, in the production of mini tubers in the super elite stage from seedlings obtained from meristem culture, in addition to traditional soil cultivation, aeroponics methods have started to be used in recent years due to the advantages they provide. In our country, certified seed production is carried out with mostly original stage seeds brought from the Netherlands and Germany through import. In order to reduce external dependency in potato seeds, we need to increase our seed production, especially of our local varieties. In potato mini tuber production, more production can be made with hydroponic systems, which are more advantageous than traditional soil cultivation. For this reason, studies are needed to increase the production of mini tubes in the super elite stage, which constitutes the beginning of seed production in potatoes.
In this study, the yield and yield elements of super elite stage mini tuber production, which is the first stage of potato seed production in flowing water culture, aeroponics and soil cultivation, were examined and which method was more advantageous was determined.
