Abstract

This study, which was conducted to determine the yield and quality characteristics of Immortelle ((Helichyrsum italicum (Roth) G. Don fil.)) plant in different development periods under Çukurova conditions, was conducted at the research area of Çukurova University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops in 2021-2022. Three different development periods were selected as the harvesting time of the immortelle plant: beginning of flowering, full flowering and post-flowering. As a result of the research, according to the harvesting time, the average plant height was 37.43-47.80 cm, fresh herb yield was 534.37-784.83 kg/da, dry herb yield was 139.50-361.32 kg/da, fresh flower yield was 65.24-203.80 kg/da, dry flower yield was 25.66-111.64 kg/da, essential oil ratio in flower (0.30-0.88%), flower essential oil yield was 0.22-0.4 l/da. It was found that the main components of the essential oil were α-pinene, γ-curcumene, italidion I, neryl acetate, italidion II, caryophyllene, β-selinene and the ratios of these components changed according to the harvest time of the plant. As a result of the research, it was found that the most suitable harvest time for H. italicum was the beginning of flowering and full flowering. However, further research is needed to determine the appropriate time for the beginning of flowering.
