Duckweed (Lemna minor) is a plant with a wide range of potential uses in many areas due to its environmental benefits and economic value. This plant is effectively used in bioremediation processes, where it improves water quality by absorbing nitrogen, phosphorus, and other nutrients in water. It also removes toxic substances, such as heavy metals and organic pollutants, from water. In addition to its use in water treatment, duckweed is a valuable feed source for chickens, pigs, fish, and other farm animals due to its high protein content. Its application in biofuel production, enabled by its high starch content, makes it a promising alternative to traditional biofuel sources due to its rapid growth rate and high yield potential. Furthermore, duckweed is evaluated as a soil conditioner and organic fertilizer in agriculture, where it enhances soil fertility through its high nitrogen and phosphorus content. Its application as a soil conditioner and organic fertilizer in agriculture has been demonstrated by its ability to increase soil fertility when dried and ground, thereby supporting plant growth. Furthermore, duckweed has been shown to enhance the water-holding capacity of the soil and increase resistance to drought.
