Abstract

In recent years, the increasing demand for chicken meat has led to a rise in broiler production. This increase has encouraged the use of various feed additives to further improve the productivity of broilers and enhance their efficiency. This study aims to analyze the extent to which feed additives used in broiler farming over the past 20 years have impacted meat quality. Data on feed additives used in broiler farming and their effects on meat quality were analyzed using bibliometric methods. For this purpose, Scopus and Vosviewer databases were utilized, and articles were screened using the keywords “broiler,” “feed,” “supplements,” and “meat quality.” A total of 536 documents were reviewed. The data from these documents were analyzed using the “Biblioshiny” and “Excel” software packages. Analysis of articles using these keywords by publication year showed that 2012 had the highest number of publications, with 13 articles. Citation analysis revealed that the year with the most citations was 2007, with an increase of 104.67%. Among the countries conducting the most research, China was identified as the leading contributor. The most prolific author was Kim IH. During the period between 2004 and 2014, Poultry Science emerged as the most significant journal with 156 published articles, followed by British Poultry Science with 46 articles, and Tropical Animal Health and Production with 18 articles. Among the keywords “broiler,” “feed,” “supplements,” and “meat quality,” the most frequently researched term was “meat quality.” The university with the highest number of publications was Nanjing Agricultural University, while China stood out as the country with the most citations and the highest level of collaboration. Among collaborative efforts, China and Saudi Arabia were prominent partners. Frequently used terms in the analyzed studies included “diet,” “chickens,” “animal feed,” “dietary supplement,” and “meat.” This study investigated the changes and developments in the effects of feed additives on meat quality over the years, aiming to identify the substances affecting quality, their varieties, and their usage levels over time. It is anticipated that this study will guide and contribute to future research on feed additives, their application goals, and potential innovations in poultry farming.
